Week 30 of 2026: Building Through the Storm

Scripture

“As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.”
— Proverbs 10:25 (KJV)

Reflection

Storms are an unavoidable part of life. They may come as illness, financial hardship, persecution, grief, broken relationships, or seasons of uncertainty. These trials often expose the true condition of our hearts and reveal whether our confidence is built on temporary things or on the unchanging promises of God.

The Lord never promised that His children would be free from storms, but He did promise His abiding presence through them. Every storm becomes an opportunity to draw nearer to Him, to mature in faith, and to experience His sustaining grace. The storms of life may shake us, but they cannot destroy those whose lives are firmly anchored in Christ.

Jesus Himself taught this truth in Matthew 7:24–25 (KJV):

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.”

Our foundation is not our strength, wisdom, or achievements—it is Jesus Christ. When we build our lives upon Him through faith, obedience, and daily dependence on His Word, we can remain steadfast even when everything around us is shaken.

Real-Life Story

Chinese pastor Samuel Lamb spent more than twenty years in prison because he refused to stop preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. During his imprisonment, he endured forced labor, isolation, and intense pressure to deny his faith. Yet he remained faithful, believing that no earthly suffering could separate him from the love of Christ.

After his release, instead of giving in to fear or bitterness, Pastor Lamb returned to Guangzhou and quietly began gathering believers once again. What started as a small fellowship in his home eventually grew into one of China’s largest house churches, with thousands worshipping the Lord despite continued government restrictions.

Pastor Lamb often reminded believers, “More persecution, more growth.” He understood that the church is not built on buildings, political freedom, or human security. It is built upon Jesus Christ, the Chief Cornerstone. His life demonstrated that while earthly storms may destroy comfort and possessions, they cannot destroy a faith that is firmly rooted in Christ.

Just as Pastor Lamb’s ministry emerged stronger after years of hardship, Jesus Christ established His Church through His own suffering. He endured rejection, betrayal, the agony of the cross, and death itself. Yet through His resurrection, He secured an eternal hope for all who believe in Him. Because Jesus overcame the greatest storm—sin and death—we can face every trial with confidence, knowing that He walks with us and will never leave us nor forsake us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being my refuge and strength in every storm. Forgive me for the times I have trusted in my own understanding instead of resting upon Your unchanging promises. Help me to build every area of my life upon Jesus Christ, the solid Rock.

When trials come, keep me steadfast. Replace fear with faith, anxiety with peace, and discouragement with hope. Use every challenge to shape my character, strengthen my trust, and draw me closer to You. May my life be a testimony that Your grace is sufficient and Your power is made perfect in weakness.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

Action Step

Take time today to honestly examine the foundation of your life. Is your confidence resting on possessions, health, success, or other temporary things, or is it firmly rooted in Jesus Christ? Choose one practical way this week to strengthen your foundation—through prayer, reading God’s Word, or obeying something the Lord has already shown you. As you build upon Christ, you can stand firm no matter what storms may come.
