Week 28 of 2026: The Power of Endurance

Scripture

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” — Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

Reflection

Life is not always won by those who start well, but by those who finish faithfully. There are seasons when serving God feels exhausting. We pray, yet answers seem delayed. We serve, yet receive little recognition. We love others, yet our kindness is sometimes misunderstood. During these moments, discouragement whispers that our efforts are pointless.

God’s Word reminds us that every act of obedience matters. No prayer is forgotten, no sacrifice is overlooked, and no tear shed in His service is wasted. The Lord sees what others cannot. He watches the quiet acts of faithfulness—the parent praying for a child, the worker maintaining integrity, the volunteer serving without applause, the believer continuing to trust despite hardship.

Grace gives us the strength to endure when our own strength is gone. We may not see immediate results, but God promises that “in due season” there will be a harvest. His timing is always perfect, even when it differs from ours. Every step of endurance shapes our character, deepens our faith, and prepares us for the blessings God has planned.

The climb of faith is often steep, but every faithful step brings us closer to God’s purpose. Endurance is not simply surviving difficult times; it is continuing to trust and obey the Lord until He completes His work in us.

Real-Life Story

Few people demonstrated endurance like Billy Graham. As a young evangelist, he committed his life to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Over more than six decades of ministry, he traveled across the world, preached to millions of people, and shared the message of salvation in stadiums, churches, and through television broadcasts.

His journey was not free from hardship. He faced criticism from skeptics, opposition from those who rejected the Gospel, long periods away from his family, physical exhaustion, and the enormous responsibility that came with worldwide ministry. Yet he remained committed to one calling—to faithfully proclaim Jesus Christ. Even in his later years, when age limited his strength and illness weakened his body, his heart remained steadfast. Rather than seeking fame or personal success, Billy Graham consistently pointed people to Christ, often saying that he was simply a messenger carrying God’s Good News.

His remarkable endurance was not the result of human determination alone. It came from a daily dependence upon God through prayer, the reading of Scripture, and complete trust in the Holy Spirit. Because he remained faithful over many decades, countless lives were transformed, churches were strengthened, and generations heard the message of salvation.

Billy Graham’s life reminds us that the greatest victories are often the result of thousands of faithful, ordinary days spent obeying God.

The greatest example of endurance is our Lord Jesus Christ. He willingly left the glory of heaven to enter a world that would reject Him. Throughout His earthly ministry, He endured temptation, misunderstanding, betrayal by one of His own disciples, false accusations, cruel mockery, brutal suffering, and finally the agony of the cross.

Yet Jesus never turned back from the Father’s will.

The Bible tells us:

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2, KJV)

Jesus endured because He saw beyond the suffering to the joy of redeeming sinners and reconciling us to God. His resurrection proves that endurance in obedience always leads to victory.

When we grow weary, we do not rely on our own strength. We look to Jesus, who understands every struggle we face. He walks beside us, strengthens us through His Holy Spirit, and gives us grace to continue when we feel like giving up. Because Christ endured for us, we can endure through Him.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving me strength when I grow weary. Forgive me for the times I become discouraged and lose sight of Your promises. Fill me with fresh courage through Your Holy Spirit, and help me to remain faithful even when no one notices my efforts. Teach me to trust Your perfect timing, knowing that You see every act of obedience and every sacrifice made for Your glory.

Help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus, who faithfully endured the cross to save me. May His example inspire me to persevere through every trial with hope, joy, and unwavering faith. Keep me steadfast until the day I hear You say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” In the precious name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

Action Step

Think about one area of your life where discouragement has tempted you to quit—whether it is prayer, ministry, family, work, or sharing your faith. This week, choose to remain faithful one day at a time. Pray daily for God’s strength, meditate on Galatians 6:9, and remember that your labor in the Lord is never wasted. Trust Jesus to complete the work He has begun in you.
